For the current exhibition at Uillinn (Scissors Cut Paper Wrap Stone), Cork-born artist Jennifer Mehigan will present an Artists Talk in the Gallery. The talk will be preceded by a Gallery Tour of Scissors Cut Paper Wrap Stone by Alison Cronin.
Jennifer is a recent graduate of Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore. Initially trained in graphic design in Sydney, her work spans multiple platforms with a focus on painting. Jennifer is interested in ecological and geological processes and the physical manifestation of errors or glitches. She explores ideas of failure and intimacy in natural and artificial environments and attempts to bring a sense of technological or ‘cyber’ sensuality to all of her work through colour, materials, amorphous forms, and instinctual mark-making. She occupies a special position in a highly networked art culture producing work that’s in, of and around the internet.
She has exhibited internationally, including a recent solo show HARD GIRLS at SOMA Contemporary and was part of Busan Biennale’s Asian Curatorial Exhibition. She is currently studying for her Master’s Degree at the Burren College of Art.
Scissors Cut Paper Wrap Stone includes a newly commissioned work by Jennifer Mehigan that responds to the exhibition themes and the spaces of Uillinn.
