Intro to Printmaking Techniques: Etching/Monoprint/Collograph. This course is ideal for those who wish to experiment with multiple printmaking techniques without huge investment.
It will allow participants to create their own set of prints using these techniques and decide if they would like to pursue any method in more detail.
The course will include:
• Copper plate etching – Prepping a plate, ‘drawing’ an image, etching and printing
• Monoprinting – This method involves inking up a surface and working into the ink or applying ink to the surface in different ways. Various tools can be used to create different textures and mark-making e.g. paintbrushes, wire, pencil, feathers etc.
• Collograph – Applying a range of household and other materials to a flat surface can create a huge variety of textures that add real depth and interest when inked up and printed e.g. tile adhesive, lace, cloth, leaves. Collographs are an ideal way to experiment safely with texture.
