Application Deadline: 12 June, 5pm
Lay of the Land is a visual arts organisation creating and curating site responsive projects in Ireland. They produce powerful, imaginative and considered projects that encourage artists and their practice to engage with the landscape surrounding them, while forging deeper connections with local community and the history and heritage of that landscape.
Lay of the Land believe that the interconnection of art, nature and people can be transformative. Their projects create greater accessibility to the arts in rural communities while allowing the visual arts to stand alone as a valuable and necessary cultural activity and experience.
This year four previous Tombolo artists will be returning to the project and Lay of the Land are calling out for two emerging artists to join them in a two week residency on Brow Head, Mizen Peninsula, West Cork, in September 2017. The residency will culminate in a public exhibition over two weekends. Bed, board and transport for the duration of the project will be covered by Lay of the Land, and the artists will receive a materials budget and be paid a stipend for their time.
Lay of the Land are seeking artists whose practices focus on the landscape, and where themes of environment, community, heritage and collaboration are intrinsic to, and reflected in their work.
