Description:

Visual Artists Ireland in partnership with Kerry County Council.

Do you have difficulty making sense of the financial aspects of your work?

This session in two parts is designed specifically to be relevant to the financial realities faced by artists.

Gaby Smyth will address: Tax & Self-employment; accounting for different incomes i.e. PAYE Self-Employed and Social Welfare; filling with Revenue Online Services; the Artists Tax Exemption; VAT and State Pension entitlements.  Annette Moloney will also provide a brief session in the afternoon on how to approach budgeting for projects and proposals and costing your time and work.

The first part of the day will take the form of a 4hr workshop on the financial aspects of self-employment and taxation for visual artists with the opportunity to discuss the issues as part of a small group of 10- 12 participants. Please use the registration form below to inform us of particular questions or issues you would like to see addressed. We can then proceed to adapt the session around your interests.

Following Gaby Smyth’s session above Annette Moloney will provide practical guidance on: developing a day/ hourly rate for your work; budgeting for proposals and projects and good professional practice around billing and charging clients.
