Jane Mathers Textile Artist is returning to the Mourne Creative workshop to share her skills and knowledge with us to create your own mixed media piece of textile art inspired by our majestic Mourne landscape rich in texture colour and form.
Working on Irish linen Jane will guide us through techniques such as mark making from several stiching techniques to add texture to depth to your work.
There are ample interesting native flora here in Mourne to inspire you to create your own Mourne art from the mauves of the bell heather the whispering bog cotton to the luminous yellow gorse that highlights the Mourne landscape not to mention the ever changing backdrop of the mountain profiles or the rugged edges of the tufty dunes at Murlough beach.
What will inspire you to create your own Mourne landscape…? Bringing home your own piece of Mourne textile art.
In the evening if the weather is fine we hope to hike up Meelmore so bring your boots and outdoor gear.
Then on Sunday to return to Gorse Hill barn to indulge in ceramics with Amy Mackle to create your own small stoneware cottages by experimenting with such ceramic techniques such as slab building hand rolling and glazing. The cottages can be doubled up as tea light holders.
In the evening dinner will be around the campfire and to sleep in the luxury glamping pods equipped with sockets ,heater, mattress’ and fire bowl for toasting marshmallows
