The West as Inspiration | Weather Gauge Lecture Series at The Hunt Museum

Thursday 12 January at 1pm

The lecture ‘The West as Inspiration’ is part of a programme of lectures related to Weather Gauge, an exhibition of paintings by Donald Teskey, which is currently on display in the Hunt Temporary Exhibition Gallery at The Hunt Museum.

Why have the landscapes of western Ireland so frequently inspired artists? Taking Teskey’s Weather Gauge as his main focus, Brian McAvera, curator, art critic and art historian, will explore this and other questions.

This interactive talk will also examine visual representation of ‘The West’ in The Hunt’s collection, including prestigious artworks by Paul Henry and Jack B. Yeats.

Admission free.
