Upcoming workshops for October and November at the RHA School and booking deadlines:
David Eager Maher | Works on Paper
8 and 9 October
This is a two day workshop with artist David Eager Maher. Eager Maher’s practice is predominately focused upon works on paper and is a skill based representational approach. He will initially present his own practice and discuss his methods and research. The course will instruct and demonstrate ways to think about and make figurative / representational images. Participants will learn how to balance various technical approaches, such as, drawing, painting, collage and photography. Through the activity of making, students will discover and follow unforeseen visual decisions. A keen emphasis will be placed upon narrative and imagination. These themes will alter and find a fluidity from conception to completion.
Application Deadline: 9 September 2016
Nick Miller | Meeting Nature
24 to 26 October 2016
A three day workshop focusing on individual responses to nature, working in the landscape from a working base at Borris House, Co. Carlow. Lead by Nick Miller.
Participants are requested to bring clothing, materials and equipment appropriate and feasible for working outside. This can include painting, drawing and other media, but prior to attending the participant must think through how they may establish their outdoor working space (whether using portable easel, table, ground sheet). Consideration should be given to the practicality, portability within the context of their own experience, ambition and approach. Should the weather prove too difficult, there will be an internal workspace, and alternative approaches to the weather, working inside or from protected sites.
Borris House is approximately a 70 minute drive from Dublin and is commutable. Students who wish to organise their own overnight accommodation can contact Borris House at firstname.lastname@example.org or Tel: +353 (0)59 977 1884
