Vacancy | Belfast Exposed Seeks New Board Members

This appointment is voluntary (3-5 year appointment) and will require attendance at a minimum of 5 Board meetings annually.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Belfast Exposed as a member of the Board and make a vital contribution to this long established organisation as part of a dynamic and committed team at an exciting phase of its history.

Role of the Belfast Exposed Board
The Belfast Exposed Board works with the Executive Director to ensure that the organisation is effectively and properly run. While delegating programming and operational decision making to the Executive Director, the Belfast Exposed Board, as the governing body, is responsible for decision-making at company level and is held to account for all the activities of the organisation. As the group responsible for ensuring that the organisation operates properly and effectively, the Board must ensure Belfast Exposed remains fully compliant with company and charities law and best practice. The Board is also required to monitor Belfast Exposed’s performance against its agreed objectives and to act as advocates and advisors for its work.

Person Specification
Successful candidates will have strong experience and track record in at least one of the following areas:

  • Business development, revenue generation and/or fundraising, possibly but not exclusively from an third sector/charitable background
  • Curatorial and/or critical engagement with arts practice or policy, with particular interest in collaborative and socially engaged approaches.
  • Community engagement either in in arts, heritage, culture and/ or lifelong learning or in the broader public, voluntary or charitable sectors

Candidates should be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for working within the voluntary and/or heritage/ arts sectors, alongside the highest standards of ethical conduct. Previous Board or management experience is essential along with a successful record of achievement, whether in commercial, education, voluntary or public sector environments.
