July 11, 2015 – July 11, 2015
11 July | 1pm – 3pm
The Lab, Foley St., Dublin 1
Visual Artists Ireland is delighted to present it’s latest Show and Tell Event and second in collaboration with ‘The Place’ Art Collective.
The purpose of Show & Tell is to allow artists to make a short presentation on their practice or projects that they are involved in to an audience of their peers in an informal atmosphere.
For this Show and Tell, all speakers are both Visual Artists Ireland members and ‘The Place’ members. They are:
– Pamela Doyle
– Dee Kerins
– Aileen Malone
– Dorothy Moorhead
– Philip O’Meara
– Annabel Potterton
– Sue Reid
– Phyllis Ryan
– Natalie Slachmuylders
The format is very simple. 9 artists are given 5 minutes each to speak about their work over 10 slides. These presentations are in a rolling format which creates a fast-paced atmosphere and eliminates any overly complicated or theoretical language. Instead we have found that artists tend to speak more clearly about their work which allows many access points for the informal networking that takes place after the presentations.
This Show and Tell will run in conjunction with Free Range, an exhibition of work from ‘The Place’ Art Collective who have been based in the Incubation Space in Dublin City’s Arts Office, The Lab since April. The exhibition will open on the 2nd of July at 6.30pm and runs until the 18th of July.
