Women on Walls Unveiled at Royal College of Surgeons Ireland

The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland have unveiled Women on Walls in partnership with Accenture, a series of portraits recognising the achievements of eight extraordinary women.

RCSI in partnership with Accenture announced an open call to Artists in 2018 to commission a series of new portraits for the Board Room located in the RCSI’s historic building on St. Stephen’s Green.

These portraits recognise the pioneering achievements of eight extraordinary women and enhance the visibility of historical female leaders in healthcare.

The commissioned artists are: Catherine Creaney, Enda Griffin, Molly Judd, William Nathans, Mick O’Dea, Benita Stoney

The artists painted portraits of: Dr Victoria Coffey (1911 – 1999), Mary Frances Crowley (1906 – 1990), Dr Emily Winifred Dickson (1866 – 1944), Dr Margaret (Pearl) Dunlevy (1909 – 2002), Dr Mary Josephine Hannan (1859 – 1936), Sr & Dr Maura Lynch (1938 – 2017), Dr Barbara Maive Stokes (1922 – 2009), Dr Mary Somerville Parker Strangman (1872 – 1943).
