Join the Board of R-Space Gallery – Help Shape the Future of Visual Arts in Lisburn!

Are you passionate about the arts, community engagement, and creative innovation? R-Space Gallery, a hub for contemporary visual arts and makers based in the heart of Lisburn, is seeking new Board Members to help guide and support our mission.

As a Board Member, you’ll play a vital role in the strategic development and governance of a respected arts organisation that champions both emerging and established artists. We’re looking for individuals with a commitment to the arts and experience in areas such as finance, governance, fundraising, business or community development.

Your Role Will Include:

-Attending quarterly board meetings (usually held at the gallery in Lisburn)
-Volunteering time to attend events and contribute your skills
-Collaborating with our dedicated part-time staff
-Providing financial oversight and ensuring sound governance
-Reviewing and supporting funding applications
-Monitoring performance against objectives set by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland
Ensuring compliance with Charity Commission, Companies House, HMRC, and other regulatory bodies
-Acting as an advocate for R-Space, especially within the Lisburn community, to raise our public profile and promote our mission.

-A short statement setting out how you meet the skills and experience required for the role of Board Trustee and your reasons for wishing to be a board member at R-Space

This is a charity board volunteer role

Please note: if you submit an application to join the Board you will be confirming that you…

-Have read and understand the role of a member of a charity board, as set out on the Charity Commission website: http://www.charitycommission.gov.uk/publications/cc3.aspx
-Are not subject to any of the following – an undischarged bankruptcy; an unspent conviction for an offence involving deception or dishonesty; a disqualification order under the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986; or a removal from trusteeship of a charity by the Court or the Commissioners for misconduct or mismanagement;
-Would be available to attend Quarterly Board meetings (usually evenings) and to undertake any Board member training;
-Are not employed by or working in any capacity for RSpace
-Understand that the term of office is normally for 2 years but a member can resign at any stage or be removed from office by the Board.

Founding & Leadership
Established in 2011 by co-directors Robert Martin and Anthea McWilliams, R-Space is a non-profit arts organisation led by seasoned arts professionals with national and international experience.
