International Sculpture Biennial 2026

1. International Competition Regulations
1.1. Participation Ten sculptors from different countries will participate, each creating on a free theme over the course of seven consecutive days, in accordance with these regulations. Each sculptor will act as a representative of their country of origin, thereby reinforcing the international spirit of the contest.
1.2. Selection and Mandatory Presence Sculptors selected by the Organizing Committee will be duly notified and must be present in Resistencia (Chaco, Argentina) from Friday, July 10 to Sunday, July 19, 2026. Arrival on Thursday, July 9 is permitted if required due to flight arrangements. The first official activity, the welcome ceremony, will take place on Friday, July 10 at 7:00 PM, and attendance is mandatory.
1.3. Originality of the Work The submitted work must be original and previously unpublished
1.4. Materials Provided The Organizing Committee will provide the following materials:
- Up to 1 cubic meter of travertine marble, with the option of requesting up to two pre-indicated cuts, depending on the project.
- Up to two sheets of polished stainless steel, each measuring 2 mm x 1250 mm x 2500 mm. Sculptors may choose to use either or both materials, though it is not mandatory. They may also request additional essential accessories needed to complete the work.
1.5. Tools and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Each sculptor must bring their own tools (including an angle grinder) and personal protective equipment. The Organizing Committee will provide compressed air for pneumatic tools, generalpurpose welding equipment, and plasma cutting tools, if the sculptor chooses to work with that technique.
1.6. Assistance The organization will provide a team of assistants to support sculptors as needed, with assistance distributed according to the specific needs of each project. Interpreters will also be available to facilitate communication and address any language barriers.
1.7. Registration Registration must be completed exclusively through the website www.bienaldelchaco.org by November 30, 2025.
1.8. Jury The jury will consist of three distinguished professionals appointed by the Organizing Committee. They will evaluate each artist’s work by visiting their assigned area at their discretion. The jury’s decision will be final and not subject to appeal.
1.9. Honorarium Each participant will receive an honorarium of USD 6,000 (six thousand US dollars).
1.10. Awards Awards granted by the Jury:
- First Prize: Gold Medal, Plaque, and Certificate
- Second Prize: Silver Medal, Plaque, and Certificate
- Third Prize: Bronze Medal, Plaque, and Certificate Awards granted by participants and the public:
- Sculptors’ Prize “Efraín Boglietti”
- Public’s Prize “Juan Alberto García”
- Children’s Prize “Reinaldo Martínez”
2. General Provisions
2.1. All artworks produced during the 2026 International Sculpture Biennial will be exhibited for sixty (60) days. After this period, they will be permanently installed in public spaces in the city, becoming part of the Cultural Heritage of Resistencia, the City of Sculptures.
2.2. Each sculptor will work in an assigned open-air space and must continue their work under all weather conditions. Working hours will be determined by the official schedule established by the Organizing Committee. No additional work will be permitted after the conclusion of the contest.
2.3. Sculptors must remain on site during official working hours. Should a participant need to leave the premises, prior notice must be given to the Organizing Committee. If a sculptor finishes their work ahead of schedule, they are still required to remain on-site until the final day of the competition and attend the awards ceremony.
2.4. Participants are required to attend all official events scheduled by the Organizing Committee.
2.5. The Organizing Committee will cover the following expenses for participating sculptors: hotel accommodation, local transportation, breakfast, lunch, and dinner from 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 9, 2026, until 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 19, 2026. Any additional expenses will not be covered.
2.6. Each sculptor must have valid medical insurance. If the sculptor does not possess such insurance, they will be solely responsible for any medical expenses that may arise.
2.7. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory during all work on the sculpture. Each sculptor must use appropriate equipment (gloves, goggles, hearing protection, safety footwear, etc.) according to the tools and materials being used.
2.8. The Organizing Committee reserves all rights to video recordings and photographs taken during the competition. Only promotional material authorized by the Committee may be displayed in the working areas.
2.9. The Organizing Committee considers that registration for the contest implies full knowledge and acceptance of these regulations.
2.10. In the event of any violation of these regulations, the Organizing Committee reserves the right to apply any sanctions it deems appropriate. Advertising within the worksite will be exclusively managed by the organization.
2.11. Any matter not expressly addressed in these regulations will be resolved solely by the Organizing Committee, and its decisions shall be final.
