Description

Join us for an engaging, hands-on workshop exploring the vibrant world of watercolour painting!

Led by Camilla Fanning (MFA NCAD), a member of Graphic Studio Dublin and Cork Printmakers, this workshop introduces key techniques to keep your colours fresh and luminous. With a focus on dynamic mark-making and a loose, expressive approach, you’ll learn how to capture the essence of your subject with energy and clarity.

The workshop emphasises keeping colour bright and vibrant, with special attention to pigment opacity, understanding how it affects layering, transparency, and overall luminosity in your painting.

For centuries, artists have turned to watercolour to depict light, shadow, and the world around them from the delicate to the dramatic. This session is designed to help you approach the medium in a way that preserves both spontaneity and brilliance in your finished work.

What to Expect
• Studio Demonstration: Camilla will share practical techniques for vibrant colour and open gesture.
• Sketching Time: Explore and apply techniques with dedicated painting time with guidance in a relaxed studio environment; A still life arrangement will be provided as a practical exercise, offering a focused opportunity to apply and reinforce the techniques covered during the demonstration.
• Show & Tell: Share and discuss your work with the group in a supportive, creative atmosphere.

Who Should Attend?
This workshop is ideal for artists looking to explore or deepen their watercolour practice. Some experience with the medium is desirable.

Materials
Participants are asked to bring their own materials; a comprehensive materials list will be provided in advance.

Lunch & Coffee Breaks
Tea and coffee facilities are available in the on-site café area, with outdoor seating. While lunch is not provided, you’re welcome to bring your own. Alternatively, the renowned Saturday food market is just across the road perfect for grabbing something delicious during the lunch break (1-2pm).
