Description

A 3 day oil painting workshop with artist Bríd Higgins Ní Chinnéide.

Join us for a weekend focused on painting the portrait and human figure from life in oils.

In working with a life model, you have the opportunity to develop your observational skills, while deepening your understanding of anatomy, proportion, and form – invaluable skills to apply to your painting style and artistic expression.

Bríd will guide you through the process of capturing the essence and character of the figure, from initial sketches to completing detailed oil paintings.

An in-depth study of oil painting and life portraiture, key areas of focus will include:

  • Understanding form and structure
  • Exploring how light interacts with the figure
  • Conveying the narrative and emotion of the subject
  • Experimenting with various brushwork techniques

Spaces are limited to ensure Bríd can give each participant the attention they need to develop their skills, offering personalised critiques and technical guidance throughout the workshop.

Basic painting materials including easels, tables, drawing boards, some solvents, and papers will be provided, as well as a life model. A full materials list will be sent once you book into the workshop.
