Talk | Fiona O’Brien in Conversation with Aaron Sunderland Carey at Axis Ballymun

Event Details

Join us in Axis on Thursday August 27th to hear Ballymun artist Fiona O’Brien talking about her exhibition, Urban Landscapes in conversation with Aaron Sunderland Carey, chaired by Axis Programme Manager, Aifric Ní Ruairc.

A long-time Ballymun resident, Fiona has turned her experience of living in an area that is constantly changing into a vibrant new body of paintings. Inspired by Ballymun’s buildings, construction, changing spaces and everyday surroundings, as well as music, nature, weather and the energy of urban life, Fiona’s work is full of colour, texture and movement. The exhibition also reflects on more personal experiences of change, loss and renewal.

Aaron Sunderland Carey is a mixed-media and socially engaged artist from Dublin. His work bridges art, community, and social change. Aaron held his exhibition Stones in Axis in September and November 2024.

Come along to hear Fiona talk about her journey as an artist, Aaron and Fiona’s connection to Ballymun, and how the places and experiences around us can become the starting point for creative work.
