Reflecting the group’s exchange of ideas and perspectives throughout the year, the exhibition reveals the ways that the members navigate, shape, and become influenced by their environments – urban and rural, imagined and physical. To be somewhere is to encounter conditions that were already there, calling into question structures of access, ownership, architecture, expectation and behaviour.⁠

The second edition of Palestinian Cultural Days, taking place in Dublin from 25–27 September 2026.

Over three days, we will explore Palestine’s geography, identity, memory, belonging, displacement and resilience through Palestinian art, literature, photography, film, conversations, workshops and music.

The programme centres Palestinian voices and lived experiences, reflecting on occupation, restricted movement and separation, while celebrating the enduring connection between Palestinians.

In conjunction with the Student Forum 2026 exhibition The Conditions of Being Here, artist Jack Galligan will activate the gallery space through a durational performance.

Using the body as a means through which space is negotiated and produced, this performance sees the gallery become a site of tension, spectacle, and social encounter in. Unfolding as an improvised series of vignette style poses backed by the constant running of a Henry Hoover, Galligan repeatedly begins the performance but never quite resolves our expectations for it. Using the visual language of theatre and drawing from the artist’s experiences as a young person, this work

Máiréad Holohan is an artist from Kilkenny and has a purpose-built studio on stilts on the side of the Blackstairs Mountains, looking at Brandon Hill across the Barrow Valley. She has an eco-practice and is deeply informed by her surroundings.

‘The Future has an Ancient Heart’ invites you to attune to your animal body and its senses. To your relationship with the land. To the others we share it with. Step across the threshold into the otherworld. How can re-membering the interwovenness of life help us to live in right ecological relationship?

The screening will be followed by foraged refreshments and a conversation for all around the film’s themes. With Poet Grace Wells, author and activist Mary Reynolds; diviner and guide Colin Campbell and forager and artist Samuel Arnold Keane. This project is funded by The Arts Council and supported by Wicklow County Arts Office.

The opening of The Conditions of Being Here invites visitors to explore how places are made through listening, gathering, and hosting.

The event will feature a performance by artist Pesci Tooth at 6:30pm, using a hand-built plate reverb and sound synthesis with field recordings gathered across natural environments, industrial estates and suburban spaces. Invited artists Peggie McKeown and Jack Halpin Doyle curate a welcome for visitors through shared food, drink, and gestures that centre hosting as a way to create space for people to come together.

This event is is supported by Dublin by Dusk.

Join exhibiting artist Claire Halpin and artist Rachel Fallon and art historian Brenda Moore McCann for an exhibition walk-through and conversation reflecting on the themes, concepts and materials in the exhibition – Empirical Outposts. From the series of Outpost paintings on tea chests responding to the social history of transit, slave labour, trade route, colonial ecology, blood minerals and post-colonial mapping. To the politically charged Topographia Palestina large scale painting discussed in the accompanying exhibition text by Brenda Moore McCann.

Join artist Gary Farrelly and the Department of Ultimology (Fiona Hallinan, Kate Strain) to celebrate the launch of Self-Institution/ Terminology Audit. Self-Institution/ Terminology Audit (Set Margins’) is a collection of profiles and lexicons documenting artistic practices that operate as self-declared institutions. It examines the act of self-institution as both a conceptual and operational approach, focusing on how these practices structure themselves and engage with their contexts.

This new video installation from visual artist Marta Golubowska is an investigation of ways of dwelling beyond the existential need for shelter; the artist looks for a connection between the environments and the inner sense of balance. It is an invitation to a deeply personal journey to the secluded intimacy of her spaces. It is also a journey through memories of all the homes that we carry through life. The video installation will take place inside the immersive space of 52m Barge in Robertstown, Co. Kildare.

‘How the Light Gets In’ is the summer exhibition showcasing the work of artists based in the The MART Grainstore Cabinteely studios from May to August.

In 2024, Rua Red Director/Curator Maolíosa Boyle invited Orla Barry to create a new work in response to the rural communities of South Dublin. In this work, Barry uses the farm walk as a method of research and a form of encounter. The commission reflects on the complexities of rural life at the edge of the city, exploring how landscape is shaped by inheritance, lineage, survival, friendship, economic pressure and the stories that pass between people.

The Collie, The Cheviot and The Crouched Skeleton launches on Friday 10 July at 6pm and continues until 26 September.

The exhibition Ar an Imeall – On the Edge is a bilingual project which explores and documents a large selection of Ireland’s offshore islands.

Having researched the history, landscape, demographics, and topography of the islands over the last few years, the artist has painted them, as seen from the mainland, trying to capture their essence. Almost 60 islands are investigated, mainly those that are or were once inhabited and, except for Achill, are not connected to the mainland by a bridge. The project seeks to record, celebrate, respect and remember the individual world that each island is and was to those that lived and still live on it.

Black Church Print Studio is pleased to present Satellite Salon, a group exhibition curated by Colin Martin at the Library Project in Temple Bar. The works in Satellite Salon represent a fully inclusive representation of members work and embraces the medium specificity of the printmaking process, the exhibition contains approximately 60 works in a formal uniformity offset with a choreographed scatter hang that accommodates the diverse print languages that comprise the artistic community of the Black Church Print Studio.

The World Outside is a new exhibition of paintings by Dublin-based contemporary artist John Fitzsimons, drawn from a close attention to the natural world’s persistent will to endure. Across the exhibition, Fitzsimons turns his focus outward, to the instinctive drive of living things to grow, to reach toward light, to propagate and to connect with one another. At the heart of the work is a sense of vitality and hope.

The Dublin Painting and Sketching Club presents its 148th Annual Exhibition at Townhall, 1WML, Windmill Quarter, Dublin 2.

Between Then and Now is Iseult McCormack’s exploration of memory and grief through intuitive abstract painting.
Working with vibrant colour, layered surfaces, mark-making, spray paint and collage, Iseult explores the fragments, gaps and shifting impressions that exist between past and present.
The paintings are deeply personal, but the questions they ask are universal.
What do we remember? What do we forget? And how does the past continue to shape the present?

As part of Artaud in Ireland, Ranelagh Arts is delighted to present Nancy Spero, Artaud x Feminism, celebrating the work of American artist Nancy Spero (1926–2009), opening on 10 September 2026 and running until 27 September.
The exhibition will feature Spero’s original artwork ‘Artaud Head’, generously loaned by Jon Bird, a personal friend to Nancy Spero, with the help & support of the Frith Street Gallery London. Spero’s engagement with French writer and theatre-maker Antonin Artaud was an important strand of her practice, and the work offers a rare opportunity to encounter her distinctive visual language firsthand.

Wicklow Creative Cooperative is hosting ‘Coalescence’, its inaugural exhibition, in Wicklow Town Library. It will be launched on Thursday 10th September at 6pm, by local artist, Sahoko Kasuga Blake, ARHA. 38 pieces of work by 19 Wicklow artists, will be on show from September 7th to September 28th. Wicklow Creative Cooperative was established in 2025 to make a space for artists to meet and explore their practice together. The group meets monthly at the County Council library in Wicklow Town.

Kyrre Mogster presents ‘Substance to Shadows’, a body of paintings depicting a kind of hedonism and human folly. Made with ink and oil stick on canvas, the series uses excess, indulgence, and collapse as an allegory for what results from dogmatic thinking — when ideas harden and refuse to be questioned.
The inspiration for the work comes from a series of books by American sociologist Alvin Gouldner that addresses the dangers of failing to confront and interrogate our
ideological biases. For Mogster, Gouldner’s warning becomes visual. The work asks what happens when we stop testing our beliefs against the world.

Wexford Arts Centre in partnership with the Ormston House, is pleased to present Memory of a Free Festival. The exhibition will run in the lower and upper galleries from Saturday, 8 August, to Saturday, 3 October, 2026.

Conceived by Ormston House, the project responds to the Carnsore Point anti-nuclear festivals that took place in Wexford between 1978 and 1981. Organised by a coalition of groups, the festivals were attended by thousands of people. Featuring works by Orla Barry, Brian Duggan and Alanna O’Kelly, the exhibition also includes photos by Derek Speirs and original archival material produced by the Irish Anti-Nuclear Movement.

Well known to Irish audiences as violinist, collaborator, educator and Leader of The Ulster Orchestra, Ioana Petcu-Colan’s creative curiousity has opened new doors in recent years. An emerging visual artist, her drawing has featured in exhibitions including both the RUA Belfast and RHA Dublin Annual Exhibition, online and in print.

Refractions invited viewers to experience one sense through another, reframing music as visual art in a collection of memories and references from Ioana’s life as a professional musician.

IMMA Collection: Art as Agency is a major three-year display celebrating IMMA’s Permanent Collection as a source of agency and knowledge. Featuring over 100 artists, from the 1960s to the present, it highlights key works, including many recent acquisitions. This ambitious exhibition invites engagement and research over time, allowing for a rich durational experience of Ireland’s Modern and Contemporary Art Collection.

Through thematic, chronological, geographical, and media-based approaches, the exhibition examines how artworks connect across time and contexts, fostering new interpretations and relevance. Works from the 1960s to the 1980s evoke the foundational story of the Irish art world. While acknowledging the context of the modernist, predominantly male dominance of that era, the exhibition also spotlights the material innovation and socially engaged practices of others who persisted despite the relatively conservative status quo.

The exhibition also presents more recent practice that explores urgent global themes such as gender, hybridity, cultural histories, de-colonialism, diaspora, migration, food injustice, climate, and ecological change. Memory, imagination, and storytelling play pivotal roles in these works, offering generative ways to process fragmentation, dislocation, and survival in unfamiliar spaces. New and existing works in the IMMA grounds will extend these themes.

The exhibition includes a specially created ‘white cube’ gallery space inspired by Brian O’Doherty’s renowned series of essays Inside the White Cube – The Ideology of the Gallery Space (1976), that critiques the auratic, market-driven effects of the white cube gallery format. Likewise the choice of works curated for this space pushes back by highlighting works by Post-War American women, pioneering conceptualist artworks by Marcel Duchamp and Brian O’Doherty as well as a contemporary feminist response by Andrea Geyer.

By interweaving historical and contemporary narratives, Art as Agency invites audiences to reflect on the evolving meanings and possibilities of art in shaping our understanding of and action in the world.

Butler Gallery, in association with Kilkenny Arts Festival, is delighted to present a building- wide exhibition honouring the work of the late Tony O’Malley (1913-2003) and Jane O’Malley (1944-2023). This expansive exhibition marks the receipt of the bequest of both artists’ estates by Jane O’Malley to Butler Gallery where the artists had a long association.

Inspired by artist Martina McDonald’s journey to Antarctica, this exhibition invites visitors to discover the icy landscapes and remarkable wildlife that she encountered over 17,000km from her home in Co. Kildare. Featuring original photography and hands-on creative activities, the exhibition celebrates the beauty and wonder of the frozen continent. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to explore, create, and let their imaginations wander.

One of the exhibition highlights is Martina’s recent engagement project with the Shackleton Experience and Riverbank Arts Centre – 120+ original prints created by school children from across the county.

The works in this exhibition are inspired by Róisín Lewis’s bicycle journeys through the Irish landscape. During the summer, she is struck by the diversity of wildflowers she encounters.

On her travels, Lewis wears a small field recorder. To distract herself from the effort of cycling, she tests her botanical knowledge by naming out-loud each species that she passes. The breathless determination captured in her voice recordings, highlights the physical effort of climbing hills. The mental effort of recalling the names of flowers as she comes back downhill at speed is also clear.

As she listens back to her recordings, what appears in her mind’s eye are not intricate botanical forms, but sequences of bright colours unfolding like a woven cloth. Lewis has experimented with ways of making textiles from plant fibres using traditional techniques such as twisting, looping and weaving. These slow, repetitive processes are comparable to the rhythms of the body moving through the landscape.

Wicklow Creative Cooperative is hosting ‘Coalescence’, its inaugural exhibition, in Wicklow Town Library. It will be launched on Thursday 10th September at 6pm, by local artist, Sahoko Kasuga Blake, ARHA. 38 pieces of work by 19 Wicklow artists, will be on show from September 7th to September 28th. Wicklow Creative Cooperative was established in 2025 to make a space for artists to meet and explore their practice together. The group meets monthly at the County Council library in Wicklow Town.

The World Outside is a new exhibition of paintings by Dublin-based contemporary artist John Fitzsimons, drawn from a close attention to the natural world’s persistent will to endure. Across the exhibition, Fitzsimons turns his focus outward, to the instinctive drive of living things to grow, to reach toward light, to propagate and to connect with one another. At the heart of the work is a sense of vitality and hope.

As part of Artaud in Ireland, Ranelagh Arts is delighted to present Nancy Spero, Artaud x Feminism, celebrating the work of American artist Nancy Spero (1926–2009), opening on 10 September 2026 and running until 27 September.
The exhibition will feature Spero’s original artwork ‘Artaud Head’, generously loaned by Jon Bird, a personal friend to Nancy Spero, with the help & support of the Frith Street Gallery London. Spero’s engagement with French writer and theatre-maker Antonin Artaud was an important strand of her practice, and the work offers a rare opportunity to encounter her distinctive visual language firsthand.

Kyrre Mogster presents ‘Substance to Shadows’, a body of paintings depicting a kind of hedonism and human folly. Made with ink and oil stick on canvas, the series uses excess, indulgence, and collapse as an allegory for what results from dogmatic thinking — when ideas harden and refuse to be questioned.
The inspiration for the work comes from a series of books by American sociologist Alvin Gouldner that addresses the dangers of failing to confront and interrogate our
ideological biases. For Mogster, Gouldner’s warning becomes visual. The work asks what happens when we stop testing our beliefs against the world.

The aphotic is the dark where no light reaches. Carlingford Lough has its own kind of dark; sediment-thick, tidal, closing over quickly. Drawing on the lough’s marine science, Suzanne Carroll paints its unseen depths in oil and encaustic, makes her own pigment from its shore, and catalogues what the tide leaves behind. Gathered and cared for, then catalogued and classified with AI, each object asks the same question: what did this cost, and how did it get here?

As part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of Solstice Arts Centre, The First Frontier was the Horizon showcases the work of many emerging and established contemporary artists originating from County Meath. This expansive group exhibition includes a wide range of artists with a previous connection to Solstice Arts Centre and demonstrates the evolving multi-disciplinary practices emerging from the region, reflecting the breadth of visual inquiry through a selection of painting, photography and sculptural installation.

What happens to memory when we experience loss? How does it change with time, emotion and distance? And how much of what we remember is fixed?
Between Then and Now is Iseult McCormack’s exploration of memory and grief through intuitive abstract painting.
Working with vibrant colour, layered surfaces, mark-making, spray paint and collage, Iseult explores the fragments, gaps and shifting impressions that exist between past and present.
The paintings are deeply personal, but the questions they ask are universal.
What do we remember? What do we forget? And how does the past continue to shape the present?

The Dublin Painting and Sketching Club presents its 148th Annual Exhibition at Townhall, 1WML, Windmill Quarter, Dublin 2.
The exhibition brings together painting, drawing, printmaking and mixed-media work by established and emerging artists from across Ireland, including Club members and artists selected through the annual Open Submission.

‘A Closer Look’ is a pivotal solo exhibition by Máiréad Holohan and invites a considered engagement and appreciation for the often unnoticed species in our local environment. Máiréad Holohan is an artist from Kilkenny and has a purpose-built studio on stilts on the side of the Blackstairs Mountains, looking at Brandon Hill across the Barrow Valley. She has an eco-practice and is deeply informed by her surroundings. Through a routine of walking and looking, she is drawn to the idea of the ruderal – a plant species that evades areas impacted by human disturbance such as agriculture, habitation and construction.

This new video installation from visual artist Marta Golubowska is an investigation of ways of dwelling beyond the existential need for shelter; the artist looks for a connection between the environments and the inner sense of balance. It is an invitation to a deeply personal journey to the secluded intimacy of her spaces. It is also a journey through memories of all the homes that we carry through life. The video installation will take place inside the immersive space of 52m Barge in Robertstown, Co. Kildare.

Finissage exhibition is a celebration of Henrietta Street studios with recent works by contemporary Irish visual artists Louise Peat, joined by fellow artist Daniel McKeon working from neighbouring studios on Henrietta Street.
For more than half a century, these eighteenth-century rooms have sheltered generations of artists, offering spaces of experimentation, making, and exchange. As this extraordinary chapter draws to a close, Finissage marks both an ending and a celebration—a final gathering that honours the creative life of the studios while reflecting on the urgent need to protect affordable workspaces for artists in Dublin

Sister Weather is the latest instalment in The Glenkeen Variations exhibition series at the Goethe-Institut in Dublin. The exhibition brings together artists Susanne Bürner, Ines Kaag, Annette Kelm and Alexandra Leykauf in the Return Gallery at Goethe-Institut Irland. Drawing on their shared experience of Glenkeen Garden in West Cork, they transform the exhibition space into a car boot sale inspired by the Irish market tradition as a place of encounter, exchange and storytelling. Through photography, sculpture, video and installation, the exhibition interweaves observations of landscape, weather and everyday culture.

Join artist Gary Farrelly and the Department of Ultimology (Fiona Hallinan, Kate Strain) to celebrate the launch of Self-Institution/ Terminology Audit. Self-Institution/ Terminology Audit (Set Margins’) is a collection of profiles and lexicons documenting artistic practices that operate as self-declared institutions. It examines the act of self-institution as both a conceptual and operational approach, focusing on how these practices structure themselves and engage with their contexts.

The opening of The Conditions of Being Here invites visitors to explore how places are made through listening, gathering, and hosting.

The event will feature a performance by artist Pesci Tooth at 6:30pm, using a hand-built plate reverb and sound synthesis with field recordings gathered across natural environments, industrial estates and suburban spaces. Invited artists Peggie McKeown and Jack Halpin Doyle curate a welcome for visitors through shared food, drink, and gestures that centre hosting as a way to create space for people to come together.

Join exhibiting artist Claire Halpin and artist Rachel Fallon and art historian Brenda Moore McCann for an exhibition walk-through and conversation reflecting on the themes, concepts and materials in the exhibition – Empirical Outposts.
