Event Details

Menopause affects half the population yet remains largely absent from visual culture. In this new solo exhibition, painter Éadaoin Glynn explores ageing, visibility and the changing female body. Drawing on an anonymous survey in which women described menopause through images and phrases: “drowning, adrift, grief, rage; but also “metamorphosis, rebirth, freedom”. Glynn responds with paint, allowing it to bleed, pool and leave tidemarks on canvas. The exhibition is accompanied by a publication with texts by critic Cristín Leach and curator Kim Crowley. Éadaoin Glynn and Kim Crowley will be in-conversation at 1pm on Saturday 17 October.
