Event | The Tentmakers of Cairo Film Screening at the Douglas Hyde Gallery

Event Details

Join us at the Swift Lecture Theatre for a special screening of The Tentmakers of Cairo – Sunnaa’ al-Kheyam fi al-Qahira by Kim Beamish, produced by Non’D’Script in 2015.
Offering a deeper insight into the practice of those who collaborated with Nour Jaouda for our current exhibition Matters of time, this film offers unprecedented access to a small community of talented craftsmen, known as tentmakers, who practice the uniquely Egyptian art of Khayamiya, or hand stitched appliqué.
