This scheme is funded by the Arts Council and administered by Visual Artists Ireland. Requests for information or application forms should be directed to Visual Artists Ireland.
Each year Visual Artists Ireland, on behalf of the Arts Council, invites applications for grants of up to a maximum of €40,000 towards the running costs of visual artists’ workspaces. In keeping with the Council’s policy document Visual Artists’ Workspaces in Ireland – A New Approach (DOC, 0.18 MB), this scheme has the aim of assisting artists workspaces throughout the country to provide the best possible environment for working visual artists and, where feasible, to enable a level of subsidy for resident visual artists.
Each year the scheme will award grants of up to €40,000 towards running costs such as light, heat, rent, artists’ development programmes, administration and/or appropriate salary costs (capital costs cannot be applied for through this scheme).
The funding will be offered to visual artists’ workspaces on a once-off basis. Please note, “once-off basis” means that successfully funded organisations/groups are not guaranteed funding in subsequent years. Each year’s applications will be assessed annually on their own merit.
Any queries relating to administration or practical questions relating to the scheme should be directed to Visual Artists Ireland. Queries concerning Arts Council policies which support this scheme should be directed to the Arts Council Visual Arts Team.
The application window for this scheme is announced through The Arts Council Website and Newsletter as well as the Visual Artists Ireland website, eBulletins, Facebook (Visual Artists Ireland), and Twitter (VisArtsIreland).
